PERRIS | April 16, 2011
The third death and second fatal skydiving accident at a popular location in less than a month have authorities Saturday investigating a midair tragedy between two skydivers that collided in Perris on Friday at about 2:45 p.m. that left one injured and unfortunately, another man dead near the Perris Valley Airport.
On March 31, two skydivers also collided midair and plummeted 200 feet to their deaths, one of which was Patrick McGowan, a veteran skydiving instructor who boasted more than 17,000 jumps.
According to a news release by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the men’s parachutes in the accident Friday appear to have become entangled during the collision. The victims had been identified as 33-year old Turci Yuri and 31-year old Jakob Jensen, both from Canada. After the accident, the two were rushed to a local hospital. It is unclear at the present time as to which of the two died shortly after arrival.
