Farrah Franklin, former Destiny’s Child star, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of disorderly conduct and says she intends on suing the Culver City police for allegedly ‘manhandling’ her during the arrest. The 29-year-old was later released on $100 bail and insists she is innocent. Franklin accuses officers of targeting her for her race and mistreating her during detainment.
According to the KTLA News report, Franklin told TMZ:
"Unfortunately, I am the latest victim on what seems to be a growing list of those who are racially profiled and mistreated by Culver City Police. I was manhandled by the arresting officers."
According to KTLA News, the singer tweeted
"YES, I’m okay & YES there WILL be a lawsuit! F**K da Culver City Police!!!! You cant keep a good girl down."
Farrah Franklin joined Destiny’s Child in 2000 although she was hired as an extra in the Destiny’s Child music video "Bills, Bills, Bills" in 1999. Farrah along with Michelle Williams replaced LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett in 2000 and Farrah’s stint with Destiny’s Child lasted for only five months, learning about her firing from the band from an MTV news report and interview of Beyonce Knowles.
