The pilot and only person believed to be aboard a single-engine Piper Cherokee plane died when his plane crashed in a remote area of northern Riverside County Sunday morning, authorities stated. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesman Ian Gregor said that the plane went down about 7:15 a.m. in an area of rugged hills southeast of Yucaipa near Cherry Valley and burst into flames on impact.
Riverside County Fire sent four engine crews and 13 firefighters to the crash, according to a report in the Southwest Riverside News Network, and the firefighters had requested the Coroner to identify the remains.
